As George Will Goes, So Goes The Nation
The title says it all: Bleakness in Baghdad by George Will in this Sunday's WaPo (here).
The Dems biggest chance in changing the mood on Iraq is probablly not Cindy Sheehan, or the fact that Susan Sarandon will play Cindy Sheehan. (sfgate here) What gives weight to the new mood is articles like this from conservatives like George.
'This is our government now,' [a retired teacher] said, nodding toward Mr. Sadr's glowering face on television." ...Conditions in Iraq have worsened in the 94 days that have passed since Iraq's elections in December. And there still is no Iraqi government that can govern. By many measures conditions are worse than they were a year ago, when they were worse than they had been the year before.
