It's connect the dots time. We're connecting the dots between big business and immigration. You may say, "Well, duhhhhh." Yet, we believe this is out of the public's consciousness at this point because everyone - talk radio, blogs, pundits, politicians, and more - is trying desperatly to get you emotional about something OTHER THAN the real issue.
What's the real issue? American unemployment is at 4.5%, meaning everyone who wants to work is working. American women are not having children, therefore, the population is AGING and not being replenished. Big business needs labor to be competitive on the global market. Ergo, immigrants, willing to work for less and get the jobs done.
Fair? Who knows. That's not the point. We know this is a simplistic version of the issue, but it's essentially accurate. For the last 20 years this supply and demand system has been chugging along. You like your remodel, right? You like the value of your home increasing because of your neighbor's remodel, right? You LOVE your nanny, your cleaning lady, your gardner, right? Alrighty, then.
First: Why is immigration going to dissappear? Because there's NO MONEY in changing it. In fact, the money is in NOT changing a thing.
Which brings us to the secondpoint in today's news: Who loves big business better than the US politicians? That would be Chief Justice John Roberts and the US Supreme Court.
Quietly, most corporate tax giveaways were greenlighted by your Surpeme Court yesterday. Why? Because big business and their lobbists are working overtime to keep the economic engine humming. Is it the right thing? Is it fair? Again, who knows...depends on where you sit at the table. What we DO know is that it's bigger than all of us put together. Learn more here:
"In a unanimous decision Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a lower court ruling that would have invalidated massive taxpayer giveaways to Corporate America. The Supreme Court has long been the victim of a hostile takeover by Big Money interests. It is a court now headed by a corporate lawyer that has repeatedly gone out of its way to protect Corporate America's ability to bleed the middle class dry. Today's ruling, though, is particularly egregious. Not only did the court strike down an important ruling, but it essentially emasculated taxpayers' ability to bring any such lawsuits against their own government in the future."
