Dixie Chicks Not Sorry Now

Can you rescind an apology? We'll have to ask Miss Manners. The Dixie Chicks are no longer sorry about "disrespecting" GWB in 2003, saying now that he doesn't deserve any respect.

Dixie Chicks Withdraw Bush Apology

MEMPHIS, TN (KNX) -- Natalie Maines, the lead singer for The Dixie Chicks, has rescinded an apology offered President Bush in 2003.

The ground took a hit to its popularity after opening criticizing Mr. Bush at London concert, in which Maines said she was "ashamed" that President Bush was from her home state of Texas.

After Dixie Chicks' CD's were burned across the country and the group was banned from radio station playlists, Maines had offered an apology to the president.

Now Maines tells Time magazine she no longer feels sorry about her comment. She says she doesn't feel the president "is owed any respect whatsoever'' because of his actions in Iraq.

The groups original remarks led to a series of death threats and feuds with other country acts, including a high-profile spat with Tody Keith.
