No Need to Apologize

Are you good with what's happening in PortGate? "Facing unrelenting political and national security concerns, an Arab maritime company offered late last night to delay part of its $6.8 billion deal to take over significant operations at six U.S. ports, after White House aide Karl Rove suggested that President Bush could accept some delay of the deal." WaPo here

Looks like it will go the way of every other "breaking news-keep-the-cycle-short-scandal" we've had recently: A conciliatory "delay" in the decision/action, then a committe, meanwhile back-room, strong-arm tactics will be applied (just short of political torture), and the deal will go through as planned, GOP collective sigh of relief.

No need to apologize about "the gross populous (you and me) not REALLY being able to do anything about it. We're all reeling from the long list of scandals. Problem is, a new pattern has emerged that lets the press, blogs, talkshows on both sides etc. get all riled up and Poof! It's over and the news cycle moves on.
