Who's Sorry Now? 02-06-06

So many apologies...so little time.
Who is apologizing, who should be apologizing, who doesn't have a clue!

1. Apology NOT ACCEPTED. 40 States are Re-Examining Eminent Domain (that's right - 40 STATES). Okay, class, pay close attention to this. The Eminent Domain issue has been heating up since the N.H. / Chief Justice Souter case (N.H. Town Rejects Plan to Evict Souter read more here). Watch closely, your property owner rights are disapearing right before your eyes. "Right now government, I think, is using eminent domain to take people's private properties and hand it over to another owner," said NJ Senator Diane Allen, a Republican. "It's really putting a hole in the American dream. Ownership of private property plays such a large role in that dream." (read more here)

2 . Super Bowl Half-Time Show. No apologies needed. Not taking any chances, NFL editors moved quickly to edit out Stone's lyrics. (Borrring- read more here). For those who were asking, our gaming insider, Pauli Walnuts said he "did alright" on yesterday's game.

3. On a very serious note, the NSA Wiretapping Congressional Hearings begin today and Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales plans to use a Congressional hearing on Monday to lash out at "misinformed, confused" news accounts about President George W. Bush's warrantless eavesdropping program, and to declare it "is not a dragnet" according to Time Magazine (read more here) More in-your-face politics from our leaders. Got a problem with that?

Update: Here's a copy of the letter sent to Attorney General Gonzales from the United States Senate Committee of the Judiciary formally requesting information on, among other things "What specific language does the Administration assert grants the President the authorization to conduct domestic surveillance...etc."

4. Gangsta violence in Brooklyn - looking for a star-studded apology here. Busta' Rhymes' bodyguard, Israel Ramirez, is shot dead outside a who's who video shoot (G-Unit/ Lloyd Banks, Missy Elliot, Busta' and more). (read more here)

5. Get a clue, MSM. The times they are a-changin'. Here's the headline in an article today in Variety Hit the mute button Squirming in spotlight, media co's flummoxed by press. Wait a minute, so they JUST GOT that news cycles are now a nanosecond? and that traditional media needs "ever-more sophisticated methods" (read knowledge of new media, blogging, podcasting, even IM!) of PR? No wonder they're sorry. May not be good news for them but it's great news for bloggers! It'll take them ages to catch up at this rate. See ya.
