Who's Sorry Now?
Ralph Reed, Pat Robertson, that's who. Everyone knows that the lobbying reforms are DOA. (Lawmakers Embrace Lobbying Cash LATimes here) Washington hates lobbying reforms as much as Hollywood hates media scrutiny. So you're saying to yourself, nothing's gonna change cuz that's the way the world works in these places. Ho hum, no one cares.
BUT, when smug, self-righteous, con artists like Reed and Robertson take it in the pants, it's kinda fun to watch. Hate to say that we get fun at the expense of others...but hey, it's the game we're in, so we know they'll understand. They do enough of it to know the drill.
Here's the deal. Robertson recently lost his bid for re-election to the National Religious Broadcasters board (AOL here) for his goofball remarks about Venezuela's president and Israel's prime minister. And then he's on FNC last night on The Heartland saying,"No big deal." Dude. You're miffed and it is a big deal to you (so you're also a liar). You're a liability to your core and you're as dangerous as that nutbag in Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Turns out most religious extremists are pretty much the same and this is solid proof of that. We've posted before (here) on Pat's dubious business dealings...like his gold mine in Liberia. Pat, get a clue. Take your gold and go home.
Now for Ralphy. What a smarmy, two-faced, liar this guy is. We said it before, regarding the cases that are related to Abramoff, et al, : Emails are going to break these guys . We're right. LOVE LOVE LOVE this from the Atlantic-Journal Constitution yesterday E-mails undermine Reed claim (here). TOLD YA! email NEVER DIES and is as powerful as DNA (remember that). Reed has been claiming FOREVER that he is against gambling, etc. But Nooooo. Ralph may hate gambling but he LOOOOVES the money it generates and is more than happy to get his share.
"Ralph Reed has said he didn't know it until last year, but emails suggest he was informed that eLot "a firm then in the online lottery business " was behind his effort to fend off a ban against internet gambling in 2000." Liar Liar Pants on Fire. And then this snide remark, meanwhile portrayingng his Christian "values", "In the Jan. 30, 2001, e-mail, Reed teased Abramoff when the lobbyist asked about the White House's choice for a new "technology czar." "Tell your elottery friends that the next czar will be an anti-gambling [Pentecostal] Christian whose main interest in life is banning smut from the Internet," Reed wrote. You dope. AND you have the nerve to put yourself out as the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor? We hope the voters in Georgia are smart enough to throw this man down the proverbial drainpipe. Toss the garbage. Hope he ends his days as a second rate black-jack dealer.
