We like to sit on the sidelines and watch the "shock and awe" on both sides at what is reallyjust business as usual in the world of power and politics. Oh, don't get us wrong. We believe the blogs can and will play a major role in reality checking what happens out there in politics land. Instant worldwide feedback is creating a new paradigm. But power is power. Politics is politics. Not too many clever players will get caught up in blog gotcha stuff.
But, fellas (and gals)...are you really that surprised? Do you know your history? The Democrats ruled from 1955 - 1994. That's FORTY years - with a tough iron fist. Yes, the Dems also get credit for alot of social change...but let's remember things like Tammany Hall, Huey Long in La, the scandal surrounding the 1960 elections, the first Mayor Daley of Chicago, the Teamsters and their shananigans , etc.
Neither side is clean or good or righteous, in our opinion. And now with the corporate interests dogging individual politicans as well as the whole system...we believe that the next fight will be around corporate interests out of control.
At any rate, here's a a rant from Stop The ACLU (btw, what would Rush do if the the ACLU were stopped...). scolding Justice Scalia...whatever, dude.
"I’m sorry Justice Scalia, but your job is to interpret law. Congress’ job is to make law. If they make a law restricting the basis for your decision to the laws that they have made (both present Congresses and previous Congresses), you are obliged by the Constitution to follow that law.
There is a provision in the Constitution that provides for the removal of a sitting Justice. Which can only be initiated by the House of Representatives and conducted by the Senate. Unfortunately, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presides over the proceedings. But it is the Senate which serves as the jury. So is it wise to alienate Congress?"
