She may be cute, but she's taking down tough runners. Midge has just as good a nose as the big dogs, but there is one thing she can't do: crowd control. Midge's trainer, Sheriff Dan McClelland, says he started teaching Midge to sniff for drugs when she was just three months old.
One advantage to her tiny size is that Midge can easily search under cars that bigger police dogs, like her partner Brutus, could never fit under. Brutus, a German Shepherd, weighs in at a whopping 125 pounds, while midge weighs only 8 pounds. The little dog is already a big celebrity. She enjoys tons of fan mail, and she gets cool gifts, such as a custom made camouflage t-shirt that reads, "Respect the Nose.""
