I will always take advantage of the fact that I can finally tell military officers to pound sand, and will do so at every opportunity....I do this job for the opportunity to kill the enemies of my country, and to finally get that boat I've always wanted.

Well, turns out that the Blackwater boys are living up to their creed and now they're shooting to kill on the streets of Baghdad, wait, what? Oh, it must be that$109M contract....fu@k democracy - that's for the US Army....Folks, this is getting sickening.

Blackwater's security consulting division holds at least $109 million worth of State Department contracts in Iraq, and its employees operate in a perilous environment that sometimes requires the use of deadly force. But last week's incidents underscored how deeply these hired guns have been drawn into the war, their murky legal status and the grave consequences that can ensue when they take aggressive action.

It's the oil, stupid. The latest reports say that Iraq's oil reserves are bigger than anyone knew. Think of the money in the Production Sharing Agreements being left on the table. Who needs war with Iran over pesky nuclear nonsense when there's gold in them thar hills?

FT Ms Rice’s attempts to draw Iran into the conference – which will include Iraq’s neighbours as well as the permanent members of the UN security council and the G8 industrialised nations – contrasted with her previous resistance to such talks.

Since then there had been a “rebalancing”, she said, particularly after President George W. Bush’s speech on January 10 announcing the extra troops and a more aggressive response to Iran’s perceived role in arming and training Iraqi Shia militia.

In today's press conference he said alot of things...backing down from the claim about Iran and IEDs (but still planning and executing a secret war), joking with reporters (calling David Gregory "Gregory").

Remember, GW's in Iraq for the oil, oil, oil, stupid, stupid, stupid. That means that, yes, there will be permanent military bases in Iraq, and yes, there will be commercialization of Iraqi national oil fields...which, btw, are making progress on both fronts, so GW must be pretty happy. Who gives a rat's as$ about poll ratings....as he said today...."I'm not running."

But the best is when he slips up and actually tells the truth, as painful as that may be:

LRT President Bush called on critics to tone down opposition to the Iraq conflict on Wednesday, as he announced his latest initiative to honor the troops who have fallen in Iraq by giving their families a brand new sport utility vehicle (SUV). "In my new plan, every fallen soldier's family will get a new SUV. I intend to give every military family who has sacrificed a loved one for freedom a brand new 2006 or 2007 SUV, paid for by the government," the President announced while visiting a factory that produces Humvees for the war effort in Eurasia. "Some have said that this war isn't worth fighting. They think the terrorists should win. My plan will show that America values those who made the ultimate sacrifice," Bush continued.

WRH A number of articles have appeared in the last few days which indicate that Bush’s "purge" is already underway. Jon Swain of the Times-online provides a chilling description of the military onslaught being carried out in the Haifa neighborhood just a few hundred yards outside the Green Zone.

Swain’s account proves that Bush’s real intention is not security but terrorizing the civilian population into submission. It's a textbook example of military pacification. As one 55 year old resident of Haifa queried, "Is this the new paradise the Americans said they would give us when they invaded our country?" Then he added, "When is this nightmare going to end"?

PS - for all those who say "Bush has created a mess - doesn't know what he's doing" WRONG. He's right on target. Create the appearance of a mess while you take the spoils of war (read OIL).

Finally, we're reading the articles in the MSM that detail the REAL reason America and Britian have been so committed to the Iraq war. We've been posting about this for about a year...as have others. That recent meeting in Crawford to discuss the URGE to SURGE? All ex-oil executives! Condi, Cheney, Hadley, Bush....

It's the OIL, Stupid. Once again, the SURGE is an ESCALATION to finish the mega military bases and protect the oil. You can include the $1b JOBS PROGRAM in that also. Forget about rebuilding Iraq. Just get the damed bases finished! The exit strategy is WAR with IRAN (to insure Shi'ia do NOT control the oil), which will be started by ISRAEL.

TI Iraq's massive oil reserves, the third-largest in the world, are about to be thrown open for large-scale exploitation by Western oil companies under a controversial law which is expected to come before the Iraqi parliament within days.

The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in the country since the industry was nationalised in 1972.

The huge potential prizes for Western firms will give ammunition to critics who say the Iraq war was fought for oil. They point to statements such as one from Vice-President Dick Cheney, who said in 1999, while he was still chief executive of the oil services company Halliburton, that the world would need an additional 50 million barrels of oil a day by 2010. "So where is the oil going to come from?... The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world's oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies," he said.

Somone asked this Israeli General how he REALLY feels about Bush, Iran, etc. Here's the response: In a stark statement published on Saturday Brigadier General Oded Tira observed, "President Bush lacks the political power to attack Iran. As an American strike in Iran is essential for our existence, we must help him pave the way by lobbying the Democratic Party (which is conducting itself foolishly) and US newspaper editors. We need to do this in order to turn the Iranian issue to a bipartisan one and unrelated to the Iraq failure."

Apparently one of the generals said this week, This isn't America's war anymore", meaning the war in Iraq. Any American in Iraq or on their way there is most likely very sorry now. It is NOT our war.

Who are the bad guys…?

NRO ...Most of the carnage is caused by the Zarqawi Al Qaeda group. They operate mostly in Anbar province (Fallujah and Ramadi). These are mostly "foreigners", non-Iraqi Sunni Arab Jihadists from all over the Muslim world (and Europe). Most enter Iraq through Syria (with, of course, the knowledge and complicity of the Syrian govt.), and then travel down the "rat line" which is the trail of towns along the EuphratesRiver that we've been hitting hard for the last few months. Some are virtually untrained young Jihadists that often end up as suicide bombers or in various "sacrifice squads"....

PS - Don't think this means we're leaving. Remember, it's the oil, stupid. GWB et al are NOT there to fight the War on Terror. They are there to GET THE OIL. The troop SURGE is to speed up the building of the permanent bases, secure the oil fields, and plan an exit by invading Iran from the "back door".

Bush goes to Crawford to rethink Iraq

Bush is NOT going to Crawford to think, "Gee, the 'Merican people voted in the midterms against the war. My ratings are sunk. My legacy is in jeopardy."

Dude, he's there surrounded by King NeoConArtisits and former oil execs who all have a stake in the Production Sharing Agreements, not to mention the 'rebuilding' efforts of Halliburton. Plus, raise your hand if you think that's the REAL Sadam who's getting hanged in 30 days?

He's rethinking Iraq something like this: That oil is just sitting there and I'm not getting younger. We've GOT to bring in more troops to ripoff, er, protect the oil for the Iraqi people (cross m'heart and hope to die, heh, heh). Plus, Dick says Iran is a PERFECT exit strategy for the Iraq mess...shut up all the naysayers by striking the Iranians. Maybe that'll force the Apocalypse....

AP Bush, saddled with low approval ratings for his handling of Iraq, will host a National Security Council meeting on Thursday at the ranch, but is not expected to make any final decision on what he says will be a new way forward in Iraq.

Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley will attend the meeting. Stanzel said there could be other National Security Council meetings before the president makes up his mind and delivers a speech to announce his decisions. The speech is expected before the State of the Union address on Jan. 23.

AW It seems clearer every day that the original purpose of the Iraqi invasion was not the elimination of nonexistent weapons of mass destruction or the installation of democracy – which has been a failure – but simply an excuse to squat militarily on the second-largest oil reserves in the world.
