49 Virgins and Lots of Donuts w/ Video

Who's sorry now?

The students? The media? The college? The Bush Administration? Nah. Here's more about the war on terror gone awry...via RawStory

Five students at C.W. Post College in Brookville, NY have been fired from their resident assistant jobs for distributing a hostage-demand video spoof. In the clip below, four of the five students can be seen in ski masks, making demands for the release of their toy duck hostage.

Some found the video to be culturally insensitive. College Provost Joeseph Shenker says, "I think the tape was an insult to the victims and families involved in hostage situations." The students have filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against the college and 3 staff members. A judge issued a temporary restraining order on Friday, preventing the college from taking further disciplinary action against the students.

Conservative Mag: Failure in Iraq will NOT mean failure in war on terror

Who's finally talking sense now?

Mark N. Katz, from VERY conservative World Peace Herald,
is hopefully debunking the radical right neoconartist view with some very thoughtful writing. People are saying that "failure in Iraq means the US loses the War on Terror". Not true, as you'll see. Please click on the link and read the whole article:

WPH...Thus, America's "failure" in Vietnam and elsewhere in the Third World did not prevent it from prevailing in the Cold War. Indeed, the two events were related: The American withdrawal from Vietnam served to encourage the Soviet Union and its allies to overextend themselves in the Third World, and this in turn contributed to the collapse of communism. At the time, of course, nobody foresaw this. Yet this is what occurred.

What this suggests is that an American "failure" in Iraq will indeed lead to negative consequences. It would, as President Bush predicted, put radical Islamic forces "in a better position to topple moderate governments." They would certainly try to do this.

Men get driver's licenses dressed in disguises

Who's sorry now?

OMG. How cool is this....dude goes in to DMV in RIDICULOUS disguises and gets a license.

"Honestly, I think DMV is a little at fault for letting us get away with it, with terrorists and stuff going on now," (Dave) Stewart added.

Does this mean: a) American DMV departments might be giving licenses to terrorists in disguise; b) giving licenses to the dreaded illegal immigrant; or c) just bureaucratic idiots who can't wait for their day to be over?

See video:
Did you hear the one about the guy who paints the top of his head black, sticks a row of fake teeth in his mouth, walks into the Richmond DMV posing as a martial arts master and manages to obtain a driver's license?

What about the one where the guy's buddy paints his face as red as a firetruck, walks into the same Department of Motor Vehicles office, tells employees that the makeup is for a play he is in later that day, then gets his license, too?

The pranks, posted on video Web sites YouTube and Break.com, earned the men some funny-looking -- and real -- Virginia driver's licenses. All told, three men obtained six reissued licenses in different makeovers and have compiled their wacky antics into a movie.

Student WAITING for an apology from the ATF

Who's waiting for an apology now?

More out of control power in our beloved America:

r&b Jeremiah Ransom, a junior from Macon, has received no response to a letter he sent to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives requesting a formal apology after being tackled to the ground by ATF agents in front of Snelling Dining Commons in April...
Before he knew it, he was on the ground with a knee to his back. “One of the agents kept asking me where my gun was, and I explained that I didn’t have one,” Ransom said in a phone interview Monday.Ransom didn’t want to take legal action against the agents, but sent a letter asking for an apology.

“It’s not a big deal that they stopped me for looking suspicious,” he said. “It's how they treated me — using excessive force — that matters.”Ransom was treated for injuries, including a large bruise on his back. Marc Jackson, a spokesman for the Atlanta Field Division of the ATF, declined to comment, saying the agency doesn’t want to “breathe new life into the story.”

Terror Risk Assessment Program

Who's Sorry Now?

Turns out technological advances go both ways...they make our lives easier in many ways....but we're all learning how they can give others a "bird's eye view" into our lives....and many times when we don't know it.

That's what the bozos at TSA have been doing...and you just KNOW this list has got to be as flawed as their NO FLY list. Plus, the data can be shared with all kinds of people and agencies...but not YOU. Seems somehow unAmerican, no?

MSN In comments to the government about ATS, Sobel said, “Some individuals will be denied the right to travel and many the right to travel free of unwarranted interference.”

Sobel said in the interview that the government notice also raises the possibility that faulty risk assessments could cost innocent people jobs in shipping or travel, government contracts, licenses or other benefits.

The government notice says some or all of the ATS data about an individual may be shared with state, local and foreign governments for use in hiring decisions and in granting licenses, security clearances, contracts or other benefits. In some cases, the data may be shared with courts, Congress and even private contractors.

“Everybody else can see it, but you can’t,” Stephen Yale-Loehr, an immigration lawyer who teaches at Cornell Law school, said in an interview.

Fox News internal memo shows bias?

Duh!

No apologies from Fox New Channel's SVP John Moody on memo outlining the day's spin on the news. Puhleeeze, get a clue, people!
Of course FNC is biased to the right. They've made millions doing so for the past 12 years. Is this a bad thing? You decide.

ICN: The Huffington Post obtained an internal FNC memo which on its face reads pretty ideological and certainly will cast doubt about the objectivity of the network in covering the War on Terror and the Democratic control of Congress. (via Romenesko)

If there’s a reasonable explanation for how a memo like this can be equated with being “Fair and Balanced” I’d like to hear it. Even if it can be explained it’s pretty stupid to write something like this up this way. When you’re a target like FNC is you don’t want to hand your detractors ammunition on a silver platter like that…
Olbermann will have a field day with this
