Secure the borders? Bush could care less...

Here's a new twist on that old phrase "Keep on Truckin":

And the immigration debate is about as phony as the War on Christmas. That's because George W. Bush is and always has been supporting the beginnings of the North American Union. The latest increase in Mexican trucker carriers announced on the DOT website confirms this.

Hullo, American consumers - all you Wal Mart shoppers. You asked for this. You keep consuming and consuming and somebody has to get you your stuff.

PC:In a stealthy maneuver, the Bush administration has boosted the threat to the public by increasing the number of Mexico-based trucking firms allowed access to all U.S. roads as part of the reckless North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) trucking “pilot program.” The Department of Transportation recently revealed an increase in the number of NAFTA trucks permitted to all U.S. highways – now 10 carriers, sending as many as 55 trucks throughout the country.

The last time the Bush administration made a public announcement about the number of Mexico-based carriers allowed to participate in the NAFTA trucks pilot program, there were only three carriers.

ICE Head apologizes for Halloween party

What a dope. This falls in the "What were they thinking?" category...Unbelievable how people really feel about things like race, immigration, class, etc...Dude shows up at a party in blackface as a convict and he's judged by Julie Myers, head of ICE, as ORIGINAL. Hmmmmm.....

The Department of Homeland Security will investigate a Halloween costume party hosted by a top immigration official and attended by a man dressed in a striped prison outfit, dreadlocks and darkened skin make-up, a costume some say is offensive, the department's secretary said.

Julie Myers, head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, called the man's costume "offensive."Julie Myers, head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and host of the fundraising party, was on a three-judge panel that originally praised the prisoner costume for "originality."Myers later apologized for "a few of the costumes," calling them "inappropriate and offensive." She said she and other senior managers "deeply regret that this happened."

Hasta la vista Immigration Bill?

Get a clue.

The amnesty immigration bill HAS to be signed, otherwise there's no one to work in the fields, wash you car, slaughter your beef, etc. Look at this from the Security and Prosperity Partnership perspective....or the North American Union perspective, if you like. The game plan is to erase the borders between Mexico and the US and Canada and the US, get cheap labor, etc. News flash! Bush is pushing this through whether you like it or not.

Feb 2007 Ottawa - The Leaders of Canada, Mexico and the United States launched the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) to increase security, prosperity, and improve the quality of life for the citizens of each sovereign nation. Last March in Cancun, Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the SPP and identified five priorities: 1) Strengthening Competitiveness through creation of a private sector-led North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), and enhancing regulatory cooperation; 2) Emergency Management; 3) Avian and Pandemic Influenza; 4) Energy Security; and 5) Smart, Secure Borders.

So now the immigration bill is in trouble and you can thank all the hysterical talk show hosts - who earn upwards of $40,000 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR (Rush, O'Reilly, Savage, Hannity, et al) - who have riled up what's left of the GOP base. PS The GOP needs this bill to pass. PS The GOP is no longer conservative, so has nothing to run on, hence the floundering base grabs on the "immigration" like the dying to a life preserver.

Watch the bill be passed in the dead of night and then everyone will point fingers to say, "
Who me? I wasn't there..."

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Most Americans are watching and betting on the Kentucky Derby today. Street Sense won - 9:2.

Americans don't even really know what Cinco de Mayo celebrates. Here's a quick summary and link to educate yourself.
PS we still maintain the GOP should get off the anti-immigration train - do they really want Tom Tancredo speaking for them? Si or No? Definite NO.

The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The 5th Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16.

Rove's a Hypocrite on Immigratrion

We happen to agree with him....but that's not the point. The point is that what he was overheard saying is yet another slap in the face to those who believe in the GOP and everything it stands for:
Not Our Kind of People [Mark Krikorian]

NRO According to a congressman's wife who attended a Republican women's luncheon yesterday, Karl Rove explained the rationale behind the president's amnesty/open-borders proposal this way: "I don't want my 17-year-old son to have to pick tomatoes or make beds in Las Vegas."

There should be no need to explain why this is an obscene statement coming from a leader in the party that promotes the virtues of hard work, thrift, and sobriety, a party whose demi-god actually split fence rails as a young man, a party where "respectable Republican cloth coat" once actually meant something. But it does seem to be necessary to explain.

Illegals to build Bush's fence

Who's sorry now?

The GOP for opening up the topic of immigration... Hullo, America, you are not doing the jobs these workers are willing to do...no matter how much you do protest that fact.

And now, here is another shining example of how it embarrases the GOP....the President's border fence is supposed to be built by Golden State Fence Company - who just got fined for hiring illegals. PS - We bet there will never be an actual fence built.

NPR A fence-building company in Southern California agrees to pay nearly $5 million in fines for hiring illegal immigrants. Two executives from the company may also serve jail time. The Golden State Fence Company's work includes some of the border fence between San Diego and Mexico....
It is exceptionally rare for those who employ illegal immigrants to face any kind of criminal prosecution, let alone jail time.

Earlier this week, for example, immigration raids on six meat-packing plants netted almost 1,300 suspected illegal workers. But no charges were leveled against the company that runs the plants: Swift.

Golden State Fence's attorney, Richard Hirsch, admits his client broke the law. But he says the case proves that construction companies need a guest-worker program.
