Halliburton Calls

Cheney's got COLD HARD CASH in the crosshairs, and he's proved he can shoot straight when necessary. (Remeber, we believe the theory that shooting Mr. Whittington was somehow a message to Irving (Scooter) to shut-the-$^#& up or you'll sleep with the fishes. We posted that earlier in the month here).

There's a rush to blog on this recent headline from conservative mag Insight (here) that Cheney is stepping down, a liability to the GWB, Irving (Scooter's) trial, blah, blah, blah. Wishful thinking on the part of libs - and even on the part of the GOP concerned about '06 elections.

This from the adminsitration that does what it wants? Nah. Folks, again, don't be fooled. Even if it's true, so what? Who cares if he's a liabiliby? He's powerful enough to stay if he feels like it.

But NOOOOO. IF he leaves early, Cheney's following the money. Here's the headline to watch: Army to Pay Halliburton Unit Most Costs Disputed by Audit (NY Times here) "The Army has decided to reimburse a Halliburton subsidiary for nearly all of its disputed costs on a $2.41 billion no-bid contract to deliver fuel and repair oil equipment in Iraq, even though the Pentagon's own auditors had identified more than $250 million in charges as potentially excessive or unjustified." Most likely this paves the way for other disupted contracts to be paid, in spite of the aggressive audit period, etc. Does that mean we think Cheney rejoins Halliburton? Not overtly. But, trust us, he's following that money bigtime. Katrina, Rita, Iraq and maybe Iran, not to mention all the Kosovo, etc. -none of this is anywhere near completed and will be paying off for years. Bullseye.
