Rove Indictment: Partial Apology?

Who's partially sorry now? What?!? Kinda drive-by, if you ask us. Like, your're either apologizing or your not...you're either pregnant or your're not.

We like Truthout and we ran Jason's story. It was strident in asserting Rove would be indicted. Rove hasn't been indicted (yet). Jason and Truthout fell into a well-know journalistic bind...getting too far out in front of a story. Timing is everything, and we feel many bloggers on both sides of the isle are learning that. It's one thing to be a "Headline Whore" to drive readership....it's quite another to be prudent in reporting news that has major consequences to numerous people, including the writer.

While we paid very careful attention to the sourcing on this story, we erred in getting too far out in front of the news-cycle. In moving as quickly as we did, we caused more confusion than clarity. And that was a disservice to our readership and we regret it."
