Senate Blocks Surge - McCain doesn't vote, Hillary does

Who's sorry now?

Well, this may hurt John McCain....he ducked out and didn't vote - on the war he strongly supports! What a wimp. And, PS, folks, he's just thiiiiis close to going Howard Dean. So, Hillary wins this one.....at least Hillary is willing to go on record

Surge WaPo Senate Republicans today blocked a floor vote on a House-passed resolution that expresses disapproval of President Bush's plan to send thousands of additional U.S. troops to Iraq, as a procedural motion to cut off debate on the measure fell short of the 60 votes needed. It was the second time this month that minority Republicans successfully filibustered a nonbinding resolution opposing the troop buildup.

Vote RSRepublican presidential hopeful John McCain (R-AZ), a staunch supporter of sending more troops to Iraq, skipped a Senate vote on the war Saturday to campaign in Iowa while other candidates rearranged their schedules," AP reported Friday.

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) canceled an event in New Hampshire to attend the vote. She voted to move the nonbinding Democratic-sponsored measure condemning President Bush's troop surge to the Senate floor, which failed. McCain, who has criticized the measure as a political "stunt," failed to cast his vote.
