Senate Blocks Surge - McCain doesn't vote, Hillary does

Who's sorry now?

Well, this may hurt John McCain....he ducked out and didn't vote - on the war he strongly supports! What a wimp. And, PS, folks, he's just thiiiiis close to going Howard Dean. So, Hillary wins this one.....at least Hillary is willing to go on record

Surge WaPo Senate Republicans today blocked a floor vote on a House-passed resolution that expresses disapproval of President Bush's plan to send thousands of additional U.S. troops to Iraq, as a procedural motion to cut off debate on the measure fell short of the 60 votes needed. It was the second time this month that minority Republicans successfully filibustered a nonbinding resolution opposing the troop buildup.

Vote RSRepublican presidential hopeful John McCain (R-AZ), a staunch supporter of sending more troops to Iraq, skipped a Senate vote on the war Saturday to campaign in Iowa while other candidates rearranged their schedules," AP reported Friday.

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) canceled an event in New Hampshire to attend the vote. She voted to move the nonbinding Democratic-sponsored measure condemning President Bush's troop surge to the Senate floor, which failed. McCain, who has criticized the measure as a political "stunt," failed to cast his vote.

Biden's In - But not to Win

Who just ran the shortest Presidential campaign ever?

Joe Biden, who's new interview is quite a dandy....and sure to take him out of the race just as fast as he got in. Interesting strategy, Joe....alienate any potential VP candidates, SHOULD you seriously run....and more importantly, ruin your own chances for VP. Say what? You didn't really want to be VP anyway?

Senator Joseph Biden doesn’t think highly of the Iraq policies of some of the other Democrats who are running for President.
To hear him tell it, Hillary Clinton’s position is calibrated, confusing and “a very bad idea.” John Edwards doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is pushing a recipe for Armageddon in the Middle East. Barack Obama is offering charming but insubstantial fluff. And all of them are playing politics.
“Let me put it this way,” Mr. Biden said. “You didn’t hear any one of them get in this debate at all until they announced for President.”

Condi to replace Cheney

Our secret spy network in DC tells us that Condi MAY replace Cheney as VP.

This is not the first time this speculation has been floated around...it surfaced in 2005 due to Cheney's poor health (yeah, make that poor MENTAL health!)

  • Cheney is in trouble in the Libby trial (guess this is what happens to kiddie porn writers like Libby).
  • There are NO GOOD GOP candidates for President (Rudy has mob ties, McCain is getting weirder and weirder and may go John Dean any minute now, Romney - puleez, America is NOT electing a Mormon for President; Tancredo or Hunter - don't make me laugh)
  • Hillary's already figured out "it's the year of the woman (voter)" i.e. the swing factor is female
  • Condi for President solves 2 problems - she's black and a woman (and she'll shut Melanie Morgan up)
  • That puts Negroponte in line for Secty of State (he's a ruthless son of a bitch, and that's what's needed for the upcoming Iran attacks - no diplomacy required)
And the Dems? It'll be Hill and Obama. And Hill will put Bill in charge of State.

Edwards put himself out with that $29M estate he's building - 2 Americas doesn't exactly wash now. And the rest are not credible or electable.

Hillary's In

Who's running for President now?
That would be Hillary - no need for a last name - who has thrown her hat in the ring. This will be interesting to watch. Hill's in to WIN and she's not kidding. Let's see how she does it. Talk about hardball....word is, her people were dispatched to find the "madrassa" story on Obama....? Now, that's hardball.

HP Six years after making history by winning a United States Senate seat as First Lady, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is set to announce this morning that she is taking the first formal step toward seeking the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, according to Democrats familiar with her decision.

If successful, Mrs. Clinton, 59, would be the first female nominee of a major American political party, and she would become the first spouse of a former president to seek a return to the White House.

Elizabeth Edwards Apologizes to Hillary

Who's apologizing now?

Elizabeth Edwards is apologizing to Hillary for saying that she (Elizabeth) is a "more joyful" person. We think she very well may be....

Newsday: Elizabeth Edwards, wife of White House hopeful John Edwards, apologized to Sen. Hillary Clinton after saying her choices in life have made her happier than the senator, a Clinton aide said Friday. Clinton adviser Howard Wolfson said Elizabeth Edwards called the New York Democrat on Friday night just after she finished a debate in Rochester, N.Y., against Republican challenger John Spencer....

Hillary apologizes to McCain

Who's Apologizing Now?

Senator Hillary R. Clinton (D-NY) to Senator John McCain (R-AZ) for the comments her advisor made re Sen. McCain's time as a POW. Jeez, Hill, you'd better get control of your people NOW before they spin you and your chances out of control.

NYP :
The adviser said Team Clinton thought McCain was doing the White House's dirty work by criticizing the Clintons and ended up "looking similar to the way he did on those captive tapes from Hanoi, where he recited the names of his crewmates." That was a reference to an unsubstantiated rumor used to tar McCain, a Vietnam war hero, as off-kilter during the 2000 GOP presidential primary. Aides to both senators said Clinton reached out to McCain to denounce the comments. Clinton is said to have a good relationship with McCain, and her circle clearly wasn't pleased with the remarks.
