He's Baaaack. Abramoff and the US Attorney scandal

Our favorite wannabe gangsta is back.
We knew it was only a matter of time before the Abramoff's (and, oh, probablly the Dusty Foggo/Carol Lam connection as well, come to think of it) name resurfaced. For the record, Post An Apology has maintained that Abramoff had something more to do with the SunCruz Casino murder of
Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis. Think it may come out now?

TMP Today, the nonpartisan congressional watchdog Democracy 21 sent a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty asking whether there had been political interference in the investigation and prosecution of Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

"Based on issues that have been raised in the firing of the eight U.S Attorneys , we're all in a position to want some assurance that there hasn't been political interference in the case," Fred Wertheimer, Democracy 21's president, told me. "This still remains the worse congressional corruption scandal in 30 years. There are lesser players who have been convicted. But there are still big players here, including sitting and former members of Congress whose cases apparently have not yet been resolved. "

Jack Abramoff goes to prison

Who's sorry now?

That would be federal prosecutors, because they lose free access to the Jackster. But, hey, this guy is going to prison for the fraudulent deal to buy the Sun Cruz Casinos, but we still think he's getting off easy because, somehow, someway, he had more to do with the Sun Cruz Casino murder in Florida than he's admitted to....

Well, our readers know what we always say...."What doesn't come out in the wash, will come out in the rinse!"

AP Jack Abramoff, the lobbyist known for lavishing politicians with football tickets or whisking them away on exotic golf junkets, will start life Wednesday with a new identity: federal inmate No. 27593-112.

Jack Abramoff sings like a canary at the FBI

Who's got a desk inside the FBI?
Our favorite wannabe gangsta, Jack Abramoff, that's who. Remember, the Jackster pleaded guilty to 3 felony counts, and we still believe he was involved in the SunCruz Casino murder.
Why's he got a desk inside the FBI? Because he's singing like a canary and ratting out everyone he can think of, like any good cowardly gangsta.

Chatty Abramoff Gets an FBI Desk
Jack Abramoff, the lobbying scandal figure, has become such a chatty rat that probe insiders say he's been given a desk to work at in the FBI. We're told he spends up to four hours a day detailing his shady business to agents eager to nail more congressmen in the scandal. And when cooperative witnesses spend that much time inside, they get a desk. As a result of his help in the ever expanding investigation, we hear that the Feds hope to keep him in a nearby prison after he's sentenced on his conspiracy admission.

Getting fired by a Lobbyist?

Ken Mehlman, on the request of Jack Abramoff, had this guy fired. It's never ending with these guys.

LAT:
October 16, 2006WASHINGTON — For five years, Allen Stayman wondered who ordered his removal from a State Department job negotiating agreements with tiny Pacific island nations — even when his own bosses wanted him to stay.
Now he knows. Newly disclosed e-mails suggest that the ax fell after intervention by one of the highest officials at the White House: Ken Mehlman, on behalf of one of the most influential lobbyists in town, Jack Abramoff...."Mehlman said he would get him fired," an Abramoff associate wrote after meeting with Mehlman, who was then White House political director.

Bob Ney pleads guilty

Another corrupt, greedy, dishonest GOP congressperson bites the dust....Bob Ney, Republican congressman, will be gone in no time (Rove will see to that!)

AP: "...Ney confessed his wrongdoing in a federal courthouse a few blocks distant from the Capitol, where until recently he wielded a chairman's gavel. The first charge accused Ney of conspiring to commit "honest services" fraud, a combination of mail and wire fraud often used in public corruption cases. The second count charges Ney with not revealing his gifts from Abramoff on financial disclosure forms.

Ney acknowledged accepting all-expense-paid and reduced-price trips to play golf in Scotland in August 2002, to gamble and vacation in New Orleans in May 2003 and to vacation in New York in August 2003. The total cost of all the trips — in which others, including some aides, participated — exceeded $170,000, prosecutors said.Ney also admitted accepting meals and sports and concert tickets for himself and his staff."

Rove's Deputy Resigns

Who's resigning now?

Susan Ralston, Karl Rove's Deputy. Why? Enter our favorite gangsta, Jack Abramoff. The guy is singing like a canary and takin' 'em down, one by one. Susan is the lastest, after Bob Ney. The Jackster is the gift that keeps on giving. And Susan is the latest victim of Digital DNA....never forget - your digital fingerprints are everywhere! It was the emails that did it...

"For Karl Rove's deputy to resign so close to a historic election is a shocker of the first order in official Washington, leaving the strong suggestion that more news is imminent on Ms. Ralston's situation. While it would not be fair to her to draw conclusions at this point, to resign at this critical moment is virtually unprecedented in this or other Administrations, and strongly suggests the coming days will bring new revelations." here

and here:

Ralston, who earned $122,000 a year, had been a minor player in the scandal for more than a year, but it was not until her e-mails with the lobbyist were released by the House Government Reform Committee last week that her role became known.

The information supplied by Ralston to Abramoff often involved procedural matters, social events and possible administration appointments, the committee said.

Ralston was the latest victim of the Abramoff scandal. One Republican lawmaker, Ohio Rep. Bob Ney (news, bio, voting record), and several former Republican aides have so far pleaded guilty in the corruption probe.
