9-11 Remembered

In Memory

NEW YORK — Relatives of Sept. 11 victims bowed their heads in silence Tuesday to mark the moments exactly six years earlier when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field. The dreary skies created a grim backdrop, and a sharp contrast to the clear blue of that morning in 2001.

Chertoff has a GUT FEELING we'll be attacked - Video

Who's sorry now?

How about the American people, who are apparently NO SAFER then we were 6 years ago, because Michael Chertoff, DHS leader just has a "GUT FEELING" we'll be attacked this summer. Remember that Chertoff is a neoconartist, after all, and he defended this idiot, Dr. Magdy el-Amir, who, in really round about ways was accused of funneling money to Osama (remember him?).

A GUT FEELING? After all the money spent, the new ginormos DHS organization, the heightened focus on intelligence - that's the best we get? So, what are police in the towns and communities around the country supposed to do? And what is our government doing to protect us from Chertoff's GUT FEELING?

NYC - Cory Lidle Plane Crash

Who was the first to report it was Cory Lidle? Mediabistro here

The first to report that the plane was registered to Cory Lidle? Update: Two tipsters say CNN. One says ESPN.> Update: 5:59pm: "Joe Scarborough was also on scene for MSNBC at the site of the plane crash. Also, Rita Cosby anchored coverage for awhile this afternoon for MSNBC as well..."
> CNN's Anderson Cooper is on the scene reporting and interviewing New Yorkers...
> ABC's Charles Gibson anchored an ABC News special report at 3:52pm, with John Berman on the scene...
> FNC's Greta Van Susteren is en route to NYC from DC for tonight's On The Record; she's taking a train to avoid any possible delays at East Coast airports...
> MSNBC's Keith Olbermann came on Hardball around 5:12pm to talk about Lidle...
> "With the news that Cory Lidle was on the plane, ESPN's being doing breaking coverage on its main station and ESPNEWS. Both have been looking more at the sports side of it (reaction to Lidle's death), but there have been phone-ins with local ABC reporters and some ABC video shown of the crash," an e-mailer says...

Condi was briefed about Al-Qeada before 9-11

Get a clue!

Condi's not coming out smelling like a rose on this one. She denied the meeting and, oops!, lo and behold, she WAS briefed by the then-CIA Director on July 10, 2001 about Al-Qaeda.

NYT here:

"...The account by Sean McCormack came hours after Ms. Rice, the secretary of state, told reporters aboard her airplane that she did not recall the specific meeting on July 10, 2001, noting that she had met repeatedly with Mr. Tenet that summer about terrorist threats. Ms. Rice, the national security adviser at the time, said it was “incomprehensible” she ignored dire terrorist threats two months before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Mr. McCormack also said records show that the Sept. 11 commission was informed about the meeting, a fact that former intelligence officials and members of the commission confirmed on Monday."
